Let us help you teach your dog essential life skills and good manners while having fun. Strengthen your bond and help them to be a happy, reliable member of the family everyone can be proud of.

Here at DY5 K9 Puppy Academy we accept all breeds of puppies from 8 weeks old.
Small breeds up to a maximum of 12 months of age; Medium breeds up to 8 months; Large / Giant breeds up to 6 months.
The course takes place at your own home or a local park if required. Please note there may be a small mileage charge levied if you are outside of a 5 mile radius of the DY5 area. (See costs section below)
All puppies must be vaccinated prior to commencing a course and proof of vaccination will be required (your dog's veterinary vaccination record card).
All courses are 4 weeks duration and end with an assessment, successful completion of which results in an award and certificate.
It is regretted that dogs that may have an aggression problem can not be enrolled on a course. If your dog has an aggression problem then the best advice is to seek a referral from your vet to a qualified and insured behavioural practitioner. it may be possible to work with you one to one basis. Please call us for details.
Children from the age of 4 years are welcome to attend and take part in training but must be under the supervision of an adult.
All owners must be prepared to sign a declaration of responsibility for their dog's whilst undergoing training. If you wish to bring more than one dog to a course then there must be a responsible person to handle each dog.
From time to time we will run weekend social clubs and fun dog shows which you will be welcome to attend at a reduced rate. We will use your email information to advise you of any special events (no more than 1 or 2 emails per year), unless you advise us you wish to opt out of such mailings.
What we'll cover
The foundation course covers 4 weekly training sessions in basic domestic training and covers modules such as:
-Walking well on a lead
-Recall, Leave It, Drop it
-Control at doorways
-Jumping up, food control and basic good manners
-Learning about responsible dog ownership, care, management and your obligations under the law
-Basic examination, handling and first aid
-Some simple and fun tricks games to amuse your dog and improve on their training and manners.
4 weeks practical training each week building on the previous sessions's learning ending in an assessment of progress.
cost and what's included
The cost of the 4 week course is £90. A non-refundable £25 deposit is required to make a booking.
Your course fee includes:
- all practical training
- use of training equipment
- course handouts
- ongoing phone and/or email support between sessions & after course completion
- homework instructions between sessions
- reduced entry to any DY5 K9 social events and fun dog shows
There may be an additional mileage charge if your training location falls outside of a 5 mile radius of the DY5 post code area. This will be £5 per 20 mins of travel time - one way. (as calculated on AA route planner site)
